Curriculum Units Enhanced with
Technology
Goal
Teachers will pick a topic and related activities that they
already teach as part of their curriculum. They will share with
other teachers in their department what they are doing now on that
topic. Each teacher will expand the unit by including technology,
assessment strategies, and aligning standards to the unit. The
teachers can pick from one to three levels of activities for this
unit.
Level One
Take students to library for research on topic and answer
questions on handout
- Find 2-3 websites about topic.
- List these websites on handout with questions for students to
answer.
- Align unit to one standard.
Level Two
Develop research site and student activity on topic with
assessment rubric
- Find several websites that refer to topic and related subjects
for activity.
- Develop one student activity that expands the topic (ex:
persuasive essay).
- List websites with questions and description of activity on
handout.
- Align unit to two standards.
- Create a rubric to be used for assessment of essay.
- Post exemplary samples of student work on Albany website.
Level Three
Develop research site with several student activities on
related issues to the topic.
- Find list of websites on topic and related issues that relate
to activities.
- Develop 2-3 student activities on topic and related issues
(ex: essay, poster, radio play, PowerPoint presention, etc.)
- Align each activity to standards.
- Include a rubric for each activity.
- Post exemplary samples of student work on Albany website.
