Technology Coordinator Forum
Alameda County Office of Education
January 30, 1998

Morning Session:
Welcome and Introductions
Review of Technology Coordinator Job Description

Introductions:
Barbara Bray welcomed us to the second Technology Coordinator's Forum, introduced herself, co-facilitator Tim Landeck of Santa Cruz City Schools, Barbara L. Cohen, co-owner/manager of Computer Strategies, LLC, and John Riley, Technology Coordinator at the Alameda County Office of Education and co-host of the Forum.

Review of the Technology Coordinator's Job Description: At the Summer 1997 Forum at Seven Hills School in Wanut Creek, we created a Sample Technology Coordinator's job description. (To see the job description, go to: http://www.compstrategies.com/forum/am3.html) Barbara Bray led a discussion/review of the job description and asked participants for follow-up thoughts and stories since our last Forum. Here's what folks had to say!:

  • Michael: hasn't been able to start his position at technology coordinator yet, but plans to use the job description to define his role.
  • Dave: Went back to his principal with our description & was given a technology prep period! Next year all sites in his district will give TWO prep periods to technology coordinators. One period is paid for by district, one is paid for by the site.
  • Wendy: Why doesn't the description say anything about working with kids? If that's not part of the description, she doesn't want the job!

Meet & Greet: Barbara Bray then asked participants to go around the room and share our names, school/district/county, job, and to tell us what we hoped to get out of the Forum and what expertise we could share with members of the Forum. The results follow below:
